About
Foxgate Records
The “wild child” subsidiary of international steel manufacturer and distributor The Fields Companies, Foxgate Records is a Houston-based production company and artist management group that is redefining what it means to be an independent label. Always hungry to find the next up-and-coming artist, Foxgate Records is blazing a trail and tackling the music business on its own terms.
Not content to be boxed into one aspect of the entertainment industry, Foxgate Records has already dabbled in another content arena, the production of the critically-acclaimed film DRUNK BUS, an uproarious comedy that stars Charlie Tahan of OZARK fame.
The company’s first signed artist is established Southern crooner Charlie Mars, who grew up in Mississippi listening to various styles of pop/rock, from Michael Jackson to the Violent Femmes. Just prior to his senior year of high school, Mars moved with his family to Jackson, Mississippi, where he attended Jackson Preparatory School and played in the band Adley Madidafus.
After graduating high school in 1992, he attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. During this time, he began seriously pursuing a music career, often playing with fellow SMU student, singer/songwriter Jack Ingram. It was also while at SMU that Mars formed the Charlie Mars Band and released several albums, including 1995’s Broken Arrow, 1997’s Born & Razed, and 1999’s End of Romance.
Determined to push the boundaries of what is possible in the music industry and beyond, Foxgate Records is only getting started in amplifying the voices, strings, and cameras of what is destined to be a roster filled to the brim with talented artists across numerous disciplines, genres, and styles.
